About Ajan
Ajan Khanna is the engineer and entrepreneur behind Groovy Gadgets; Australia’s home for unique, innovative and genuinely fun wholesale gifts, gadgets and toys.
Ajan earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications and gained early career experience integrating enterprise systems for some of Australia’s largest organisations, including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Westpac, Optus and National Australia Bank. With his wealth of experience, Ajan knows how things work, and more importantly, how to make them work brilliantly. In 2002, he channelled that technical know-how into something a bit more exciting and founded Groovy Gadgets to design, source and distribute products that make people stop, smile and say “I need that.”
Over more than two decades, Ajan has personally overseen the design and manufacture of a wide portfolio of low-voltage DC electronic products. Through ongoing creative innovation he is continuing to add to the Groovy Gadgets brand portfolio.
Groovy Gadgets – a trusted name in retail and wholesale
Groovy Gadgets has become the central point of management for all brands and products sold and developed by Ajan’s businesses.
His most commercially successful creation, the JINX Luminous Jellyfish mood lamp, has achieved over 200,000 total sales (and growing) worldwide. Groovy Gadgets have successfully expanded sales through more than 300 retailers across Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom, including Harvey Norman, Toyworld and Australia Post. The JINX Luminous Jellyfish lamp is the kind of product that captures what Groovy Gadgets is all about: clever design, real quality and something genuinely different.
Beyond the products, Ajan has built Groovy Gadgets into a trusted name across the wholesale and retail landscape. The business has maintained a long-standing presence at major trade and consumer events, including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Reed Gift Fairs and Toy Fair, alongside seasonal retail operations across Sydney shopping centres for more than a decade. Three Australian Promotional Products Association Best New Product awards sit behind the brand: The Levitator, the Transparent LCD Showcase, and recognition for retail and exhibition excellence at the Sydney Royal Easter Show. Ajan has also built a substantial intellectual property portfolio including registered trademarks, design registrations and a pending Australian patent for spark suppression technology in battery-powered devices.
